Jan
Johnsen
jan@johnsenlandscapes.com www.johnsenlandscapes.com
Jan presents her illustrated talks to various
groups and flower and garden shows in the U.S. They are generally 45
minutes to 1 hour long. Her most
popular Powerpoint talks are described below. Contact us to arrange a
time and discuss fees.
Simplicity,
Sanctuary & Delight
In this beautiful powerpoint, intriguing
design ideas are presented for enhancing any garden. Learn why East is
considered the ‘auspicious’ direction, how to use a ‘Golden Rectangle’ to
create harmony outdoors, and which colors uplift our spirits in a garden. A popular talk! Goes with a book signing of
Heaven is a Garden
The Spirit of Stone
An illuminating look at creative
ways to incorporate natural stone in a landscape. This talk reveals secrets of
Japanese stone placement in a garden and inspires the audience with new ideas
for using stone outdoors. Goes with a
book signing of The Spirit of Stone
Add Sparkle to Your Garden
Water is the magical ingredient in a
garden. It can calm us or stimulate us. This talk explores using water in
all its forms – ephemeral, moving and still. Beautiful images and fun
ideas capture everyone’s imagination!
This always popular subject offers a new look at how color
affects both us and the natural world. I
share how reds excite, yellows stimulate, blues resonate and greens calm us
down. I share which flowers and shrubs work best for creating blue gardens and
how sunlight dictates the best placement of colors outdoors
Postage
Stamp Gardens - Planters, Verticals, Accents & More
This Powerpoint talk gets

and offer many planting ideas for container plantings, green walls, stacked

Yours is the only pretty treatment I have seen for dealing w. storm water [In "River of Rocks"]. An EPA website for MD & DC about rainscaping - and the current water challenges focuses on "reduce runoff, slow it down, spread it out, soak it in." Nothing very inspirational or feeds the soul, though cleaning the water IS important for the Chesapeake and other animals. I'm a year behind your raingarden talk. Trying to turn "a lemon into lemonade". Liked your This Old House "Best Ways to Deal w Storm Water" contribution. Since I just discovered your blog tonight, any more "storm water" solutions? Thanks for sharing.
